Funeral reported in Wimbledon Herald of 6th December, 1890

— On Friday afternoon the remains of the late Mr. P. H. Samson, a coaching celebrity, were buried at the Parish Church. The service was very impressively conducted by the Rev. C. Low. The deceased was very highly respected in Mitcham, and his remains were followed to the grave by a great number of the townsmen, the funeral procession consisting of the body in an open car, three mourning coaches, and two carriages. The coffin was of polished oak, with massive brass furniture, and on the plate was the inscription :—”Philip H. Samson. Died 23rd November, 1890, in his 73rd year.” The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. R. Chart.
