The 21st Time she had Said the Same Thing.

— On Saturday, at the Croydon Police Court, well-known offender named Mary Ward, aged 40, of Lewis-cottage, Mitcham, was once more charged with being drunk and incapable in High-street.

– The Chairman: This is the 20th time you’ve been here.

— Defendant: Yes, air, and I am very sorry. I’ve been very quiet for four months, but yesterday a woman came to my house, I went out with her and had a little too much.

— Mr. Seale: This is about the 21st time you’ve said the same thing, Mary Ward. Defendant: I’m very sorry, sir.

— P.-c. O’Sullivan said defendant was so drunk she could not stand. In reply to Mr. Seale, Inspector Knight said the last occasion she was before the Court was the 4th April

— Fined 5s. and 5s. costs, or seven days.
