George Shepherd’s Funeral

George Shepherd, 73, was a wheelwright and coach builder of 6, Arnold road, Tooting.

He was apprenticed to a firm of coach builders in Totterdown-street Tooting and later established the firm of George Shepherd and Son on the site where Mitcham Baths was built. The business is now carried on by his son Captain George Shepherd M.C. close to the old premises.

As a young man George Shepherd was in the Mitcham Volunteer Fire Brigade when Mr. R. M. Chart the Charter Mayor was captain and rose to be second officer.
