From the Archaelogy Data Service Defence of Britain Data Archive, the pillbox next to the running track on the News of the World Sports ground can be seen, although there are no further details about it.

John Sanders

Death reported in Sutton Advertiser of 26th October, 1890

DEATH OF AN OLD INHABITANT.

—We regret to record the death, on the 13th inst., of Mr. John Sanders, at the advanced age of 76. Deceased was a well-known and highly-respected tradesman in Mitcham, and was one of the founder’s of the Mitcham branch of the Manchester Unity of Odd-fellows. The funeral took place on Friday, and was conducted by Mr. J. R. Chart. The coffin, which was covered with floral offerings, was conveyed to the parish churchyard in a hearse, followed by a mourning coach containing the relatives. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. J. Hacking, in the Mortuary Chapel. There were many old inhabitants present.

In the burial register he was listed as a shoemaker, living in Commonside West. His funeral was on the 17th October 1890 and he was buried in the parish churchyard, section P grave 82.
