A Robin Dinner.
—On Wednesday at the Mission Room, Half Acre-row, number of poor children were gathered together to partake of good meal provided by the collection of small sums for a Robin Dinner, such as they have in London and other places. At 12.30 the children were all in their places waiting for the good things. A small meat pie was placed in the bright tin plate of each guest, and its contents were enjoyed by the boys and girls who seemed very happy at this, the first repast of the kind. Then followed some nice hot plum pudding, and the recipients had enough and to spare. A few kind words were said to the little ones, and a hymn was also sung, and at the close the children were dismissed, each having an orange take home and what pudding was left. A few kind friends were present who took interest in the little ones, and it is hoped that fifty children may be thus assisted by good meal once week, if funds come for the same, during the present tune of distress.
