237 London Road, opposite Raleigh Gardens, is in 2024 a newsagents called Shreeji News. In 1989 this shop was Binneet, also a newsagent, which can just be seen on the right of a photo from Merton Memories.

This 1955 ad shows it to have been H.J. Chapman, confectioner, stationer.

In a similar 1963 ad, the name has changed to V.P. Major & Co., and in a similar 1964 ad the shop has changed its name to Mitcham Cards (late Chapman’s) with the proprietor R. Gordon. In 1967 this receipt shows the business as Gordons Stationery, Office supplies:
