ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE

C27. Mitcham Cadet Ambulance Division.

The Brigade teaches First Aid and aims at promoting comradeship and citizenship. It caters for boys between the ages of 11 and 17 after which they can transfer to the local Senior Division. Activities include camping, football, cricket and general club activities.

Meetings are held at Bond Road Schools every Friday evening at 7.0 p.m.

CN5/1 and 2 (Mitcham) Nursing Cadet Division.

The mottoes of the Brigade are “For the Faith” and “For the Service of Mankind.” The Brigade aims to teach young people comradeship and citizenship in the upholding of their mottoes and traditions. The St. J.A.B. has a proud history dating back as far as the third century and continuing down to the present day members who even surpass their predecessors in loyal and unselfish service. Cadets are taught a range of over 16 subjects including First Aid, home nursing, child welfare, handyman, camping, etc.

Mitcham Nursing Cadets have been very successful in competition work for which they hold several trophies. Classes are held for girls from 11 to 20 years of age at Links Road School, Monday at 6.45 p.m.; Gladstone Mission Hall, Tuesday at 6.30 p.m.

A further Division is soon to be formed in the Rowan Road area.
